Bio:

Laura Herlant is a Sr. Robotics Research Scientist and Machine Learning Manager at iRobot, a leading consumer robotics company and makers of the Roomba. IRobot develops and produces robots that live in millions of homes across the world, using computer vision and machine learning algorithms to understand and build maps in a dynamic environment, and designing robot interactions with people physically in the home and digitally through the app.

At IRobot, Laura leads the advanced development team in machine learning and data science, focusing on customization, data-driven robot behaviors, and putting recent breakthroughs in ML and AI into practice. She holds a Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, where she received the Google Hertz Fellowship and NSF Graduate Fellowship, and worked on robot manipulation and assistive robotics technology.
